The creation of aesthetically appealing and durable kitchens and bedrooms relies on a customized process involving the design, manufacture and direct delivery within the United Kingdom, in addition to a series of customization options in terms of design, color, type of door and worktop.
With more than 114 showrooms in the United Kingdom and 14 in the United States, all equipped with virtual reality, Wren seeks to provide high-quality solutions at accessible prices, coupled with market-leading financing options to offer its products to an increasingly broad public. Meanwhile, the company dedicates the utmost attention to innovation, customer experiences and quality.
Wren has worked to develop unique production techniques, including adhesive treatments, assembly processes and impeccable finishing coatings, in accordance with rigorous quality standards. As a result, the company can assuredly guarantee its kitchens for up to 25 years.
Wren is strongly committed towards environmental sustainability and is concerned about human health and the planet’s wellbeing, which explains its decision to procure sustainable raw materials, 25% of which originate from local and recycled resources. This approach, which spurs the company to promote a healthy and sustainable future for the environment, relies on a program of initiatives involving the entire supply - chain and includes planting trees for kitchens sold—the right direction for attaining the goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2030.
The company’s activities are guided by three primary objectives: under the environmental profile, a significant reduction in VOCs (72%); the improvement of product performances, in terms of the visual impact of the finish, the reliability and durability of products, and, hence, their sustainability; compliance with the main regulations—a factor that Wren regards as non-negotiable.
“The switch to water-based products, in both the matt and shiny versions, necessarily impacted the coating processes and cycles, as well as the production system in general. ICA has proved to be a tested and reliable partner that has long been familiar with our production plant in Scunthorpe, so it immediately grasped our commercial, environmental and operating requirements and was familiar with our coating lines, enabling it to develop the necessary products more rapidly.” said Debra Hutt, Head of Supplier and Press Relations.
Besides the drastic reduction in VOCs, the transition to water-based coatings brought other environmental benefits:
- a reduction in the chemicals used for cleaning and washing tools;
- compliance with the regulations (directive on industrial emissions, regulations concerning environmental authorizations and BAT);
- reduction of rejects on the coating line;
- greater durability of finishes;
- conformity anticipated to the environmental checks to be conducted in December 2024 and that could imply significant costs in the event of non-conformity.
